Well, my husband doesn't like my Heat Exchanger idea of yesterday - even though he was reading reviews from Scandinavians who said they heated their homes to 22 degrees. He said their houses are much better insulated than ours and underfloor heating was better because you don't have to heat the water to as high a temperature.

It does smack rather of an air conditioner as well - blowing germs and dust around the place.

Anyway, I asked him to look at 'green energy suppliers' because I've always had a feeling that if you sign up to a 'green tariff' you are just giving your supplier more money - and I don't feel they deserve that.

At the club we had a supplier that took far too much on a direct debit - although we told them and they reduced the monthly payment, they still owed us £1500+ by the time they went bust. We'll probably never see that again.

If your energy supplier goes under, the regulator appoints a 'supplier of last resort' (NPower in our case) who can, it would appear charge the highest tariff available. I'm still struggling to get some money reduced from our Npower invoice because of the way they invented a meter reading and then tried to charge me £5,500 for £3,500(ish) of electricity. They even made an admin charge on Christmas Day - what for - a Santa Supplement?

Anyway, at home we use British Gas, who just completely take the pi** out of their customers. In September we had a credit with them of about £250 (up from £170 credit the previous year) so they informed me they were going to increase my direct debit £10 per month. Are they kidding? I dialled the telephone number but got a message 'If you are calling about your new payment, we can assure you this has been correctly calculated' so I e-mailed and pointed out the amount of money they owed me, an increase from last year and threatened to cancel my direct debit and pay on invoice of they charged me an increased rate.

So they e-mailed back reducing my DD by £10 per month and I did feel they had listened to my complaint so I thought I'd wait a few months before I switched.

Anyway - I think my husband found a green supplier who would match my current rate. I asked him for a quick rundown before I wrote this blog - but he whisked Little One off for a bath. Then I asked him if he would just like to write todays blog for me, but he just laughed.

So I'll try and get some facts before I write about this again, but at least I've got all my gripes about the big suppliers off my chest! Stay Warm.;D
